Children are encouraged to use a range of tools and materials and are challenged to solve real life problems, considering people’s needs and preferences in the design process. Children are given an insight into the skills and processes involved in the creation of products we use every day, from research all the way through to evaluation. It also helps them to see how other subjects, such as Maths, Science and Art can be used in real and relevant situations. DT helps children to think about the impact products have on our lives and to show this understanding through the decisions they make in their design and practical work.
