Speech Festival

Little Waltham Speech Festival 2025 – ‘Voices for Change’

This year’s Little Waltham Speech Festival will take place during the week beginning Monday, 24th March. Every pupil will have the opportunity to share their voice, inspire others, and speak about a topic that matters to them.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Voices for Change’, encouraging children to speak confidently about ideas, causes, and issues that are important to them and the wider school community.

Speaking in front of others is a valuable life skill that helps build confidence, develop effective communication, and enables young people to express their thoughts clearly. At Little Waltham, we believe every voice has the power to make a difference.

What pupils need to do:

  • Choose a topic they feel passionate about and would like to share with their class.

  • Prepare a short speech (approximately 2 minutes) to present during the week beginning Monday, 24th March.

  • Use minimal notes to support natural delivery—though support will always be provided for those who find this challenging.

  • Be creative! Pupils are encouraged to share a personal story, raise awareness of a cause, or inspire others with something they care deeply about.

Whole School Speech Festival Showcase

Following class presentations, two pupils from each year group will be selected to take part in the Whole School Speech Festival Showcase, taking place on Friday, 4th April at 9:00 am. This will be a wonderful opportunity for children to share their message with the entire school community.

The school is very much looking forward to hearing the inspiring speeches.

Be bold, be confident, and use your voice for change!
