British Values at Little Waltham
At Little Waltham C.E.V.A. Primary School, we are committed to promoting and upholding British Values in all areas of school life. We believe that these values are integral to our pupils’ social, moral, and spiritual development and play a crucial role in preparing them for life in modern Britain.
The British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs are embedded in our school ethos and are reflected in our teaching and learning.
We ensure that the teaching of British Values is integrated into all aspects of the curriculum, enabling our pupils to develop a deep understanding of what these values mean and why they are important. Through lessons and activities, our pupils learn about democracy and the importance of respecting the views and opinions of others. They explore the concept of the rule of law and understand the consequences of behaviour that is not in line with it. They also learn about individual liberty and the importance of making informed choices while considering their impact on others.
Our pupils are encouraged to show mutual respect and empathy towards others, regardless of their background, beliefs, or opinions. We promote tolerance through a range of experiences and engagement with those from different backgrounds and cultures, including through our curriculum, school trips, and visitors to our school.
As a school, we understand that the development of British Values is an ongoing process and is integrated into everything we do. Through our collective efforts, we aim to ensure that our pupils leave our school as responsible, respectful, and tolerant members of British society.
